30th Anniversary

All at ABC

Thank you ABC for all you do to support cancer research and as a by product helping small businesses in Africa. I've been involved with fund raising and collecting bras via the bra bank scheme in Southport for nearly two years in conjunction with Soroptimist International Southport. Our wonderful bra bank 'hosts' have included pubs, restaurants, yoga studios, schools, churches, shops, the library, pharmacies and sheltered housing schemes to name but a few. Thank you everyone.

The entire team at Pink Ribbon Bingo as well as our members would like to congratulate Against Breast Cancer on their 30th anniversary…what an incredible achievement. Over the years, we’ve worked closely with the team of Against Breast Cancer. Their commitment to their cause, the empathy and enthusiasm for women and men affected by breast cancer is truly inspiring. We hope, everyone at Against Breast Cancer takes this moment to look back at their achievement. To many more years to come!

Everyone I know who has known breast cancer

We have all been touched by breast cancer, personally or someone we know. In my lifetime, I have seen incredible strides forward in the success of treatment after diagnosis. More can be done, and that is why I became a Bra Bank supporter, helping to raise funds to continue vital research.

My family and friends

I support breast cancer and their brilliant research as I owe my life to the dedication of the staff and surgeon at the breast clinic, The Parapet in Windsor and the brilliant staff at the Eden Unit at Wexham Park Hospital with the wonderful life saving treatment, I cannot be more grateful and will continue to support a truly life saving charity, thank you x

To my friends, those that fought and lost and those still fighting

When I realised in my small world I had 17 friends that had breast cancer, I decided to do a fund raiser, for those that lost their fight, the funding for research seemed to me to be desperately needed. ABC are doing a brilliant job. Horsing around in the nip raised a drop in the ocean but I hope it helped, raise awareness for both men and women to check their breasts. Cancer is cruel an it breaks my heart to have lost too many beautiful friends. We must support organisations like ABC. 💕

Against Breast Cancer

I became involved with the vital work of ABC about 25 years ago when, in my capacity as a journalist, I wrote about the fundraising work of Witney ABC's amazing Jeanne Chattoe. I lost my mum to breast cancer 43 years ago and both Jeanne and charity struck a chord. I joined the Witney fundraising team and have helped organise the annual Witney in the Pink Day since then. I was honoured to become a patron of ABC in 2007 and commend their ongoing search for a vaccine against this terrible disease.

Happy 30th Anniversary to Against Breast Cancer! It has been a pleasure for the Charity Angels committee to fundraise for this great charity, and we look forward to continuing to do so. Having raised over £40,000 so far, we pledge to carry on that support with fun events to aid everyone diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. Keep up the great work.

Against Breast Cancer

I'm very proud to be ABC's first Sports Ambassador. Having been living with Secondary Breast Cancer for the past 4 years I've really appreciated the support of the charity. I've now run five marathons and recently helped with Hampshire's inaugural Breast Walk Ever. The team are absolutely fantastic and Luna, my springer earned her first marathon medal this weekend! Being able to raise money for a charity very close to my heart is a very special experience.

Congratulations on the milestone of the 30th Anniversary It's been an absolute pleasure to work with Against Breast Cancer over the last ten years. We have enjoyed holding various events in the shop to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Many of our customers have been on a Breast Cancer journey and it's the least we can do to support them. Many bras have been donated over the last 10 years as well.

My wife Maria

I was happy to support ABC after my wife had breast cancer treatment in 2007. One of my highlights was running for ABC in the London marathon in 2010. Unfortunately, in 2020 after being clear for 10 years, my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 secondary breast cancer in her lungs and is undergoing treatment. It shows just how important the work of ABC is.

Our Team and Volunteers

I am extremely proud and very grateful to work for Against Breast Cancer and have done so for nearly 13 years. We honestly have an outstanding team of staff, volunteers and trustees and we all have the same aim, and that is to raise vital funds to continue ABC's ground breaking research. As you can see from my picture no two days are the same raising these funds. On this occasion I was modelling a pair of socks from a Corporate Partner selling these to raise money for ABC!

I have been so proud of the ABC Team in raising funds to enable world class research which will benefit patients. As Chair of Trustees I have somewhat enjoyed our various "pink" activities in which I have been encouraged to wear pink as highlighted in the University of Oxford's Pink Week which raised over £5000.

I was inspired to start fundraising for Against Breast Cancer by Pat and Anthony Leathem, the founders thirty years ago. Their dedication and passion for the charity was phenomenal. I would also like to thank the staff past and present for all their hard work to make Against Breast Cancer the amazing charity it is today. This includes my fellow trustees who give up their time to ensure the charity and research run smothly. Here's to the next thirty years!

Fundraisers

I am very proud to have worked for ABC for the past 4 years, and still get very emotional and overwhelmed by the number of amazing fundraisers we get. Often in very sad circumstances they will come up with an idea for a Fundraising Event, from cake sales and head shaves to raffles and race nights. All are a true inspiration!!! With so many wonderful fundraising events that I have been a part of over the past few years Noah Smith's Race Night held at New Mills AFC was one of the highlights.

I have been lucky enough to work for Against Breast Cancer not once but twice! After a couple of years away I recently returned to find many familiar faces and several new ones all of whom have one thing in common, an unrivalled passion to give our supporters the very best experience. We are a small team with a handful of wonderful volunteers who together work incredibly hard to make Against Breast Cancer what it is today.

I have worked at ABC for nearly 2 months now and it has been fantastic. It is brilliant to be part of such a wonderful team. Our fundraisers are absolutley amazing, taking on so many different challenges from marathons to skydives all to raise money to fight secondary spread breast cancer. I can't wait to meet many more of our amazing supporters in person at the London Marathon this weekend and then Breast Walk Ever Hampshire on May 7th!

I am very proud to have worked for the charity for over 13 years. I have always been inspired by our founders, Dr Anthony and Patricia Leathem. Their vision and commitment for a future free from breast cancer continues today . This is reflected in our wonderful, dedicated and generous supporters. The researchers that we are able to fund, their groundbreaking and innovative research and of course all of the dedicated charity team and our excellent board of trustees and volunteers.

I have worked for the charity for over 12 years and it never ceases to amaze me how generous our supporters are. Whether its sending in unwanted stamps and ink cartridges for recycling or searching through your underwear drawer for the bra you no longer need or want. Each and every donation really does make a difference for our vital research. I love the interaction with our supporters, listening to their stories and how passionate they are to support Against Breast Cancer.

I've had the pleasure of working for ABC for nearly 10 years. The team are great, our supporters are awesome and our research is exciting and innovative. I have a real passion for fundraising to fund our research to find a breast cancer vaccine. One of my favourite memories is organising our Achievement Awards, hosted by actor Winston Ellis and many of his celebrity friends. These awards highlighted so many amazing people and achievements. Stories that made me smile or cry.
